This week we say goodbye to a man who wasn’t perfect, he wasn’t saintly, and he was known to everyone. To those who knew him, you either loved him or hated him and most loved him. He is going to be missed and in fact, he already is. James was the type of man that would give you the shirt off his back to help anyone who needed it or he could show you the door real quick. This week we say goodbye to James Edward Weaver who I might add went by other names such as “Daddy” to his kids, and “Pop” or “Poppy” to his grandkids and “Muffin” at his workplace.
James always tried to laugh and cut up with everyone and always tried to make light of certain situations with the people around him. He had his bad day, like we all do and after losing his beloved wife of 32 years, he stilled tried to carry on with his life as best as he could. Now they get to be together and he will no longer be missing her.
I will tell you though that that these last few years haven’t been easy for him and we have had many talks about things especially about mom and the kids and grandkids and work and God I can tell you that he was ready to go home. He will be missed by all of us but he is now with his wife Jackie Ann Weaver.
We will see them one day, as the living on earth is not forever but life is. Life on this earth can be short or long and sometimes can be what seems like an eternity. Today, I think I will celebrate Pop going home to be with our loving father and to be with all that has preceded him. I will be grateful I got to know him and today we honor a good man. I say till we see each other again, dance and smile in the light of the father. We will miss you but we will keep your memories close.
He was preceded in death by his parents; James and Josie Weaver, His wife; Jackie Weaver, his sons; Matthew and Mark Dobbins, His Grandson; “Little” Matt Dobbins, and 2 sisters; 1 brother; and 1 Brother-In Law.
James is survived by his children; Shelly Reeves and husband Cirby; Melissa Sain; Janet Riley and husband Eddie; Jeana Weaver; and Wayne Dobbins, and lots of grandchildren.
Arrangements under the direction of Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery, Amarillo, TX.
