Mr. Crain was born in Memphis and raised in Childress. He graduated in 1973 from Childress High School and attended Texas Tech University.
Mr. Crain worked for Burlington Railroad for 20 years before retiring in 1999. After retirement, his favorite pastime was trading. He traded in antiques, watches, guns, etc. He was a member of the Dalhart Masonic Lodge, The Scottish Rite of Lubbock and of the Khiva Shrine Temple of Amarillo. He also was a member of First United Church of Childress.
Survivors include his wife, Denyce Crain; a son, Stelton Crain of Amarillo; a daughter, Lacy Crain of Amarillo; a brother, Vernon Crain and wife Kathy of Childress; a stepsister, Kelli Eberhart and husband Eric of Springfield, Mo.; his father, Joe Crain and wife Susie of Missouri; his mother, Mozelle Gwynne of Amarillo; and several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be to Dalhart Masonic Lodge, 305 Denrock Ave., Dalhart, TX 79022.
