

Juanell Cogburn, 78 of Shamrock passed away November 6, 2013. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013 at First Baptist Church Shamrock Texas with Mike Martin and Randy Land officiating. Interment will be at Shamrock Cemetery by Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors. Juanell was born October 17, 1935, in Spring Creek, Texas in Young County to William and Mary Peacock. She graduated from Woodson High School in 1954 and married her lifelong love, Loyd H. “Butch” Cogburn in 1955 in Wichita Falls. The couple moved to Shamrock in 1962. Juanell was a prayer warrior who loved her church. She served on many committees, taught Sunday School, was a member of WMU, and the church choir. Mrs. Cogburn was an officer for many years for the Thursday Heritage Club. Juanell was an avid reader and spent hours on crossword puzzles. She was a great cook and a dyed-in-the-wool Dallas Cowboys fan. Mom was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her parents ; a brother, Ray Peacock; and a brother-in-law, Don Carpenter. She is survived by her husband of the home, Butch; two sons, Quince Ray Cogburn and wife Jackie of Amarillo and Gary Young Cogburn and wife Joy of Amarillo; a daughter, Julie Lynn Winters and husband Russ of Amarillo; a sister, Floydell Carpenter of Paris; a nephew David Taylor and wife Kenda of Paris; a niece, Donna Taylor of Abilene; 4 grandchildren, Kinsey Cogburn of Amarillo, Kendall Cogburn and wife Kelly of Rockwall, Courtney Cogburn of Lubbock and Weston Cogburn of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church, Shamrock Texas.
