Laverne was born November 29, 1925 in Pawnee Oklahoma to William and Vera Phillips. She graduated from Amarillo High in 1944, soon after graduation she went to work for South Western Bell, where so worked as a telephone operator and a clerk for 35 years. Laverne loved dogs, especially her own fur babies. She collected cook books that where passed down to her from different family members. Family was very important to her and was very close to her nieces and nephews which she held them close to her heart. Laverne lived a simple life and was always there for her family and friends whenever they needed her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Carl Phillips and Stanley Phillips; one sister Orilla Ingram; and her Aunt Leona Jones, who she was very close to. Laverne is survived by her nieces Linda Edwards of Amarillo, Patty Littleton of Nacogdoches TX., Gloria Paige, Lanta Dewolf; nephews Larry Castleberry, Lonny Castleberry, Joe Davis, John Davis, Jim Davis, and Bobby Phillips; her youngest sister Kathleen Craft; many great and great-great nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her family and friends.
