Leone Tatum

Leone was born July 6,1938 in Amarillo to J.W. and Opal Johnston the youngest of three. She was a Baptist, our Mother started a career in Mental Health in the late 60’s. She worked for the State School of Arizona. After relocating back home, she resumed working for Amarillo State Center for Human Development. She had a passion for working with special needs children. Later she managed various group homes. When the families couldn’t get their children on the weekends, she would often bring them home with her. Our Mother had many talents. She loved gardening, growing flowers, antiques, decorating and most of all Estate Sales. Our parents enjoyed dabbling in Real Estate. Her and Weldon worked side by side picking up properties and flipping them. She was also graceful and always made people feel welcomed.

She is preceded in death by her husband; Weldon Tatum, parents; J.W. and Opal Johnston, sister; Fody Davis, and brother; Joe Wayne Johnston (Bud).

Leone is survived by her daughter; Toni Barr, and husband David of Woodland Hills California, Melody Cain and partner Bill Jones of Amarillo, her baby; Traci Doss of Amarillo, and her pride and joy granddaughter; Hannah Yeager and Ty also of Amarillo.

The family will be at 2204 Julian after the service.
