Lonnie G. Olson

Lonnie G. Olson of Amarillo, passed away on October 23, 2023. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 5-7 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home 6969 1-40 E. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 10 am at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial to follow.

Lonnie was born on February 1, 1956 in Atwood, KS to Fran and Marjorie Olson. Lonnie lived in Ozark, Arkansas with his parents for a while but always considered Atwood Kansas his home. Lonnie moved to Amarillo in 1980 with two friends, and found Employment at IBP meat packing company where he met and married his first wife in 1981, his son, Josh Olson was born three years later. Lonnie married three times, his third and current wife Martha Sandoval he met in 2004 and they married February 7, 2006.

He was a loving, kind generous man. His family was very important to him. He was a hardworking man who would lend a hand to anyone in need, never expecting anything in return. He was a member of the Rolling Hills Riding club. He worked at IBP for 23 years and at Swift for many years. In his later years of his life he was a truck driver and also enjoyed repairing things for people and welding. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, horseback riding and tinkering in his shop. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Janie Olson.

He is survived by his wife Martha; his children Josh Olson, Damaris Sandoval and Jacklyn Esquivel. His siblings Larry Olson, Mari Olson, Maggie Olson and Loren Olson. His grandchildren: Braeden, Madisen and Gaven Olson, Witten, Easten and Heiglen Brannon, Bryan and Adalie Pena, Haylee Huse, Analeigh and Serenity Acuna along with many loving family and friends.
