

He was born September 29, 1949 in Clovis, New Mexico to John and Donna Floyd.
In 1968, Mike got his first firefighting job in Clovis, New Mexico, working there between 1968-1972. He joined the Air-Force in 1972-1976, then he got his Bachelor's degree in Fire Science. In 1979 he married Vallerie Hodson and they remained married for 29 years until her passing on December 18, 2005. Four days after they were married Mike joined the Navy in September 1979. While in the Navy, Mike broke his ankle and was medically discharged in 1982. Mike and Vallerie moved to Pueblo, Colorado where he was in Civil Service as a Fire Fighter. In 1988 they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and entered employment at one of the worlds most secretive military bases at Area 51 as a Fire Inspector. Mike worked there until he retired around September 29, 2008. During his 20 years of employment, he went on to receive an EMS certificate in 1993, then another certificate for Long Standing Service from EG&G. In 2006 he was rewarded a certificate of Fire Inspector 2, and last but not least he upped his rank to Fire Lieutenant before retiring in 2008.
Mike is survived by his son; Zane Floyd, brother; Randy Floyd, 2 nephews, 4 nieces, and 1 great-niece.
He is preceded in death by his parents, passing in 2008, wife; Vallerie passing in 2005.
Mike will be missed by both his family and friends.
