Nellie Fay Barnes Whitson

Funeral Services will be at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at St. Stephens United Methodist Church, 4600 Western, with Senior Pastor Stan Cosby officiating.

Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday November 25, 2015 at Littlefield Memorial Park Cemetery in Littlefield by Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors

Nellie Fay Barnes Whitson was born June 13, 1937 in Marietta. to Oscar T. and Nannie Jane Barnes. She grew up in Anton and graduated from Anton High School in 1955. She married Randy Whitson on March 8, 1956. A secretary and administrative assistant, she worked for a variety of offices including the ASCS offices in Littlefield and Canyon, as well as the Department of Public Safety in Perryton. Upon retirement Nellie moved to Amarillo to be a full time “Meme” to her three grandsons, one granddaughter and a great grandson. Nellie attended St. Stephens United Methodist Church.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar T. and Nannie Jane Barnes,a brother, Lindy Barnes, a sister, Lorene Blair and a daughter, Cheryl Jean Whitson.

Nellie is survived by her husband, Randy Whitson, of Amarillo; a daughter, Karen Brantley and husband Royal of Amarillo; a son, Larry Whitson and wife, Kerry of Plano; grandchildren, Ryan Brantley and wife Brittan, Evan Brantley, Landon Brantley all of Amarillo and Haley Whitson of Plano; and a great-grandson, Carter Brantley of Amarillo.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to St. Stephen UMC Children’s Center..
