

There will be a celebration of her life and graveside ceremony on April 20, 2018 in the Highland Park Cemetery in Borger, Texas.
Peggy was born in Borger, Texas in 1939 to Charles and Muriel Gilbert. She graduated from Borger High School in 1957 and went on to North Texas State where she graduated in 1961 with a degree in education and later earned her master's degree in reading. She taught for well over 40 years in many different places including Bermuda, Okinawa, Japan, California, and the Dallas Public School System where she was received Teacher Of The Year awards on two different occasions. After retiring in 2000, she went on to work for Voyager Expanded Learning where she wrote children's stories. She taught reading classes at Brookhaven College for several semesters. Aside from her love of teaching, she found great passion in traveling. She spent time all over the world in places such as Australia, New Zealand, Romania, Guatemala, England, Scandinavia, Mexico, Canada, and Israel. She was deeply loved by her big family and all of her beloved students.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents CD and Muriel Gilbert, sisters Claris Turbett and Mid Wright, and brother Charlie Gilbert. She is survived by her brothers Buddy Gilbert of Mesquite, Texas and Tommy Gilbert of Bedford, Texas, sisters Ann Clayton of Borger, Texas and Cathy Poole of Amarillo, Texas; 15 Nieces and Nephews and several close friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The Alzheimer's Association in honor of Peggy.
