

A celebration of Robert’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 10am in the Memorial Park Funeral Home’s Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40 in Amarillo with Gene Shelburne presiding.
Robert was born in 1941 to parents Pervin (Keith) and Mildred Barnes in Paducah, Texas. Robert graduated from High School in Gilbert, Arizona in 1959, and attended Northern Arizona University. He married Judy Grow October 13, 1960 and divorced July 1, 1974. Although Robert never fulfilled his dream of working his own farm, he did hold a few jobs working other farms and helped his dad on a cattle ranch before leaving home.
After retiring from a career in the trucking industry, Robert enjoyed driving for Gene Messer Ford. He enjoyed competitive bowling in his earlier years and later, golf and bass fishing with his friends and family. He was a member of VFW.
Robert is survived by Aunts Windel, Betty and Peggy, his sister Margaret, daughters Tammie and Peggy, granddaughter Megan, grandsons Taylor and Nathan, nephews Kevin, Patrick, Ben and Randy, nieces Brenda, Teri and Patricia, numerous great nieces and great nephews and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his father Keith, mother Mildred, sister Helen, fiancée Shirley, and his life-long friends Larry Lindsay and Jack Borger.
