Mr. Ford was born Feb. 11, 1935, in Webster City, Iowa, to Jason and Laura Ford. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1952 in Jackson, Minn. He married Janet Genevieve Macias in 1963.
Roland joined the U.S. Air Force in 1957 and worked as an avionics maintenance tech for 22 years before retiring. He moved to Amarillo in 1978. He started working for Pantex in 1982 as an instrument mechanic until his retirement in February 2010.
Roland had a great love for NHRA drag racing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, on Feb. 6, 1992.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin Ford of Amarillo and Erik Ford and wife Kim of Boerne; two grandsons; two granddaughters; and four great-granddaughters.
