

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2015 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, with Pastor Jerry Davey officiating.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Directors.
Rosie was born December 16, 1941 in Plains Kansas to John and Armella Freighberger. She was raised as a farmer’s daughter in Vilas, Co. and was a cheerleader at Vilas High School. Rosie always cheered for the Denver Broncos even after moving to Dallas Cowboy territory. She married Frank Sims in Amarillo on June 13, 1959 and the couple built a home in the Eastridge neighborhood where they lived for 45 years. Rosie was a homemaker and mother of five children and two step-sons. She worked as a cook at several restaurants in Amarillo. She was known for her comfort food of beans, cabbage, pork chops, rice pudding and glace’n g’dovals. (dumplings and potatoes). She enjoyed decorating her home, garage sales, antiquing, bingo, country music and watching mystery and game shows on television. Rosetta enjoyed life and had many life-long friends that she enjoyed spending time with. Often times, friends would drop by to enjoy a cup of coffee and conversation. Rosie had a big heart and was always willing to help a friend in need. For the last several years, Rosie struggled with health issues. She was a resident at Craig Nursing home. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff at BSA Hospice.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Monty Ray, a sister, Evelyn Wall, a brother, Gilbert Freighberger, and a granddaughter, Stacy.
Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Galen Sims of Colorado City and Jerry Sims of Amarillo; and three daughters, Gayla Henrikson of Amarillo, Christie Sims of Amarillo and Jeanne Tomlinson and husband Ron of Canyon; 14 grandchildren, William, Frank III, Thomas, Jackie, Tiffany, Nicole, Monty, Eric Jr., Jessica, Katie, Jacob, Hannah, Sarah and Caleb; and 8 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Samantha, Shannon, Aveena, Jerry, Jayden, Jace and Madi.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 7, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a favorite charity.
