Born September 25th, 1942 in Amarillo, TX, she was the daughter of Lois Harris and Sam Harris.
She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 38 years, Arthur Broadwater: Three children: Donny Ray Perkins and his wife, Kelly Perkins of Denton, TX: Debra Kay Lane and her husband, Danny Lane of Amarillo, TX; and Danny Ray Perkins of Temple, TX; A sister, Jan Harris of Austin, TX; Seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Kay, since she didn’t care to be called by her first name Sammie, (said it was too boy-ish), worked as an OB Nurse and a manager at Mrs. Bairds Bakeries for most of her working years. Besides being a hard worker from a young age, the thing she worked hardest and most effortlessly at was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was her greatest accomplishment. She was a teacher to all and her wisdom she has passed will be given to generations to come and never forgotten.
She is missed terribly, but has reunited with her family in Heaven and will reunite also, with her family that is on earth very soon.
She loved the Lord with every cell in her body. She preached and showed the love of God in everything that she did. She inhabited the fruits of the Spirit and it was felt by anyone who was around her. She was peaceful, like a quiet breeze in the fall. Calming, like soft ocean waves hitting your feet. Comforting, like a warm cup of coffee on a cold winter night. Understanding, like a child of God who judges not, just like Jesus, but with all that said, she would still whoop your behind with Grandmas love paddle if you got a little too sassy!
She was someone to come to. Your first choice. The one who kept the secrets because she was most trustworthy. The one who, even if a little disappointed, concentrated on the good and forgot the bad. She loved all because Jesus gave all. Yet, she could scare the dickens out of you with some panty hose over her head. Her sense of humor was one of the greatest parts about her. She was the most of all good things.
Kay will always be remembered and missed in our hearts. We can still feel the warmth of her hugs and the sound of her laugh. The memories we will cherish and think of often. We smile, though with tears, because she is now home. She is not gone, except in physical form, but here in spirit everyday. She is patiently looking down at her loved ones and awaiting their arrival.
She will be celebrated with her family and friends on July 26, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo, TX. Pastor Glen Stocker will be officiating.
