Tommie Ray Sossaman

Tommie Ray Sossaman, age 92. Mr. Sossaman died on December 17, 2021, in Amarillo, Texas. Tommie was born in 1929 in Quanah, Texas. He was the son of Charley and Nora Sossaman of Medicine Mounds, Texas. Tom was raised in Medicine Mound and later moved to Borger Texas where he worked for Phillips Petroleum for 33 years. He married his wife Jean in 1968. In 1985 He retired and they moved to Amarillo, Texas. After his retirement, they spent their time traveling and spending time at their summer home in Angel Fire New Mexico. Tom was a Christian and a member of Coulter Road Baptist Church in Amarillo.

Tom is survived by a daughter; Tina Denton and her husband Les of Vernon. A stepdaughter Debbie Osborn and her husband Steve of Amarillo. Two grandsons; Codie Denton & Ty Denton and two granddaughters; Michelle Nelson and Stephanie Nelson. Four great-granddaughters; Brittney Nelson, Kylie Denton, Gemma Denton, Linley Denton, and two great-grandsons; Brody Denton and Liam Denton. Two great-great-granddaughters, Enedina and Allison Nelson. Long time family friend Lucy Garcia of Amarillo. He is also survived by two nieces; Cheryl Tipton of Texas, and Maurine Moore of Arkansas. Four nephews; Charles Sossaman of Washington, Bobby Sossaman of California, and W.C. and Dwain Newman of Arkansas.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife Jean, a step-son John, three brothers; Melvin, Leo, and Cecil Sossaman, and two sisters; Lorene Newman and Flora Stewart, and one niece; Billie Sharp.

The family requests memorials to be made to any of the following; Carl Farley’s Boys Ranch, Meals on Wheels of Amarillo, Kindred Hospice of Amarillo, or any Christian Church in Amarillo.
