Wanda was Born on December 5, 1932 to Ernest A. and Clara L (Prescott) Luedecke and raised in and around Pampa, Texas. After graduating from Pampa High School she moved to Borger, Texas where she met and married William Murray Leith on July 9, 1954. They later moved their young family to Amarillo, Texas and later to Canyon, Texas. Wanda was a professional sales person and enjoyed working and raising her family and caring for many friends and extended family. She was always active with her children’s activities as they grew up making sure that although she worked full time she never missed a ball game, a recital or any special event. In later years they moved to the North Texas Area to be closer to children and grand-children where she remained until the time of her death.
Wanda joined Epsilon Sigma Alpha International (ESA) in November of 1969 and was a lifetime member for 51 years. She was a member of Beta Xi, Hurst, Texas until her death. Wanda worked with many organizations over these years, the Kidney Foundation State Center in Amarillo, March of Dimes, and ESA’s international project St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Wanda was a leader and organizer. She held all ESA chapter and district offices. Having grown up being the only girl in a houseful of boys, she had many “sisters” in ESA and she loved learning about their lives and visiting with all of them. She was a loyal friend.
She certainly will be missed but her memory will live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Husband William, son Brent; and brothers Bill, James, Doug, and Johnny. Those left to cherish her memories are her sons Flake M Leith of Hockley, Texas and his wife Jerri, Shad E Leith of Weatherford, Texas, Daughter Tammy Leith Newman of Richmond Texas; brother Rondal Luedecke of Marble Falls, TX and his wife Charlotte; and Sisters in law Sue Luedecke of Kingsland, TX and Tammy Martin Luedecke Dickinson, TX. Wanda also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Andrea Leith Sims of Sutherland, VA, Brent M. Leith, Emily S. Leith, Landry W. Newman of Richmond, TX, and Sarah Newman Sorak of San Diego, CA; as well as three great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren and many other loving nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made in honor of Wanda L. Leith to the Saint Jude's Children's Hospital.
