Rita Peña McLaughlin

Rita Peña McLaughlin a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother, cousin, friend and passed away December 21, 2024 at the age of 64. Born on June 8, 1960 in Anaheim California; the eldest daughter of Enrique Peña and Elisa Martinez.

Rita loved all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was most proud when she saw them. She would hug them and ask “how is school?” In their growing up years she would always remember birthdays, special occasions and get them McDonalds gift cards.

Rita loved to do crafts; loom, crochet, needle point, paint, you name the craft she was there. She enjoyed being a member of the Artesia Senior Center Knitting Club. The woman would make things like hats, scarves and donate to the military charity groups. This was her passion in life. Leaving the house her craft bag would be right by her so she could do her crafts while Dave drove.

Rita knew that it was more blessed to give than receive. Her generosity knew no bounds. She was always willing to lend an ear to anyone who needed words of wisdom or offer prayer.

Rita is preceded in death by her son David P. McLaughlin Jr, mother Elisa “Nana” Carr; step-father, J.D. Carr; father, Enrique G. Peña; brother Arturo M. Peña; and in laws, Dale P. McLaughlin, and Rosita P. McLaughlin.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 39 years; David P. McLaughlin Sr. Sons Travis (Lily), and Sean (Meg); four stepchildren Dale (Brittany), Damien (Kylee), and Dustin (Mikki), and Rosie (Andreas). She leaves behind sisters Rose, Susie (Scott), Cindy (Dominic) and brother Henry (Trish). Along with grandchildren Tasia, Tyra, Genesis, Vanessa, Natasha, Kinsey, Gracie, Kaleb, Dax, Acey, Hayden, Arriana, Sophie and Oliver. Among great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her and her generous spirit and bright personality.
