Brett R. Johnson, 71 of Cedar Rapids passed away suddenly on June 30th,2023. Brett was born on October 25, 1951, in Cedar Rapids to Ralph and Rosemary (Barta) Johnson. He grew up and lived in the Cedar Rapids area.
Brett served in the US Army at a young age and held many roles until being honorably discharged.
Brett had a passion for music and loved supporting the local scene. He especially loved playing the harmonica and guitar. He was encouraging to the local talent, and had touched the lives of many musicians, singers, and venue staff. He truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with friends, and tapping into his creative mind. He had a selfless and giving personality, and his presence will be missed by so many.
Brett is survived by his sister-in-law, Sylvia Johnson of Bertram, nephew John (Elizabeth) Johnson of Clive and niece Kelly (Eric) Haack of Keystone. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Fred Johnson.
