Candice Marie Jorgensen

Candice “Candy” Marie Jorgensen, age 71, of Ankeny, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. She was born on April 7, 1952 to Dan and Nina Lorraine (Patton) McKinness in Mason City, Iowa.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Ankeny Funeral Home, 1510 West First Street, Ankeny, Iowa 50036. A Private Family Funeral Services will be at a later date.

Candy graduated from Newman Catholic High School in Mason City, Iowa in 1970. After High School, she graduated from Cosmetology School and became a beautician for a short time. Following that she moved to Des Moines and worked for her mother at Rutzi Industries. Candy later worked for the State of Iowa as the Clerk of Courts until her retirement in 2011. She was united in marriage to David Edward Jorgensen in 1979 at Nina’s home in Des Moines, Iowa. There were two children to this union, David Michael and Amanda Marie. The couple settled in Des Moines until December of 2022 when they moved to Ankeny to be a little closer to family.

Candy dearly loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She would take them to the zoo, the science center, driving around in her van or to garage sales around town. Candy also liked to visit art festivals, and going to events at Iowa State University with David. She was an active member and a devoted catholic at Christ the King Catholic Church in Des Moines.

Candy is survived by her husband of 45 years, David Edward Jorgensen; two children, David Michael (Bella) Jorgensen and Amanda Marie (Jamie) Jorgensen-Razor; three grandchildren, Gwen Razor, and Dillon and Ronan Jorgensen; a sister, Tralee Thomas; sister-in-law, Sarah Kehlenbeck, and nieces, nephews and other extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Pat McKinness, and a step-brother, Mark Eyster.
