Diana Piagentini Houge passed away Thursday, May 3, 2022, at Glen Oaks Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in Urbandale Iowa. Diana was born November 8, 1931, in Des Moines, Iowa to Virginio and Zaira Piagentini. After her high school graduation with the Class of 1949 from St. Joseph Academy, Diana enlisted and served her country in the United States Air Force. She served as a Radio Mechanic at Lackland and Stewart Air Force Bases.
Diana married William “Bill” Houge and they raised their five children, Jeanne, Robin, Linda, Brad, and Scott Houge in Ankeny Iowa. As the children grew up and went to Ankeny schools, Diana became a Telephone Operator with Northwestern Bell Telephone /US West, where she later retired. She cherished and focused on her ever-expanding family all her life.
Diana is survived by her sister Gloria “Chi Chi” Green; children, Jeanne Uhl (Gary), Robin Karns (Don), Linda Robinson (Rickey), Brad Houge (Lisa), and Scott Houge (Janelle); 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Diana was preceded in death by her husband Bill, parents, and three brothers.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Vittoria Lodge or to the Ankeny Area Historical Society.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Tuesday, May 10 at the Ankeny Funeral Home with a funeral service at 12 noon. Burial with military honors will follow at Ankeny Memorial Gardens. Please visit www.ankenyfuneralhome.com to share your memories of Diana.
