Don Allen Hauschildt

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Ankeny Christian Church, 2506 SW 3rd St Pl, Ankeny, IA 50023. There will be no Visitation. There will be a time of food and fellowship immediately following the service at the church. Burial of ashes will be held in the Earlham Cemetery at a later date.

Don Allen Hauschildt was born on April 24, 1947, in rural Mapleton, Iowa, to Harold Henry William and Viola Marie (Marsh) Hauschildt. He was the 7th of 10 children. He attended Maple Valley High School until his sophomore year when his family moved to Greenfield, Iowa. Don graduated from Greenfield High School in 1965. Following graduation, Don began working with his brother, Royce, framing homes in Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri. Also, during this time Don enlisted into the Iowa National Guard for six years.

Don met the love of his life, Mary Louise Wilson in Earlham, Iowa in 1967, the couple was married later that year at Earlham Friends Church on December 15, 1967. There were four children to this union, Jon, Scott, Jason and Mark. When Don and Mary started their family, he worked with his brother, Randy, as Hauschildt Roofing and Construction. Later, Don opened Hauschildt Construction, working locally in Greenfield, Iowa. This way he could spend more time raising his family. In 1998, Don closed his construction business and moved to Cape Coral, Florida with Mary. While in Florida, he worked for various construction companies placing soffit and fascia on new construction until he finally retired in the summer of 2023. The couple then moved back to Iowa and resided in Ankeny.

Don dedicated his life to his trade of homebuilding. He enjoyed doing projects at his children’s homes and the Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral, Florida. In his free time, he enjoyed swimming, watching westerns, crosswords, sudoku and playing dominos with Mary and friends. He spent time deer hunting and being in the woods throughout his life as well. Most of all, Don dearly loved spending time with his family.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, and eight brothers and sisters, Royce Hauschildt, Janet Kamm, Everett Hauschildt, Marsha Whiteaker, Marilyn Dollar, Julie Coffman, Wayne Hauschildt, and Sharon Hauschildt. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary; four children, Jon (Jennifer) Hauschildt, Scott (Amanda) Hauschildt, Jason (Brittany) Hauschildt, and Mark (Ambre) Hauschildt; seven grandchildren; a brother, Randy (Karen) Hauschildt; two sisters-in-law, Barbara and Kathy Hauschildt and a brother-in-law, Carl Dollar.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to the Pine Island Moose Lodge 1954, 8903 Stringfellow Rd, St James City, FL 33956, in loving memory of Don.
