I was one of many of Evelyn’s neighbors and friends. 
 I go to the park to pray/meditate daily. I had seen Evelyn walk Annie from across the pond & always just kept an eye out for her. But never had met her. 
 It was Christmas Day several years ago, we had very mild temperatures. Christmas Day is also my birthday. I decided to go to the park to pray.  As I was content in prayer, I heard this little voice over my headphones. It was Evelyn wishing me a Merry Christmas! 
I took my headphones off and wished her the same. She asked “are you an artist ? I see you carry your sketchbook with you?”  I proceeded to tell her, it was just my  yoga mat she was noticing.  Then She asked what I was doing out so early. 
I told her my story.  Which is really unlike me.  For some reason she got me to  just spilled the beans. 
My health 2 years prior was near death & given 6 months to live. I promised if given a chance at life, I would thank God everyday I could . So today I’m thankful I made it to another birthday. 
She wished me a happy birthday.                 
We hugged & became fast friends! 

The  years to come I always looked out for my friend & she continued to have a way of making me spill the beans!
 I didn’t get a chance to tell her good bye, I was traveling at the time. I will think of that little spunk she had and her joyful smile . I’ll hold it in my heart forever! Just wanted you to know she touched a lot of hearts including mine!  I’m sorry for your loss and as always praying for Evelyn and her loved ones.  Nicole  J.

Evelyn was the "grandmother" and dear friend to my two young daughters (and to me), when they attended the Kids West program at Westridge Elementary School.  She showed so much love to them, and they loved her.  We all visited her in Dec 2013 so she could meet their young baby daughters, Samantha and Erin.  We will forever hold a place in our hearts for this very special lady; she was a class act and will not be forgotten.  May God bless you, Evelyn....❤️❤️❤️

This was Memorial Day Weekend in 2018. Jon took me to meet his family and I fell in love with G'ma Brubaker immediately. 

She made a beautiful family and I'm lucky I got to be a part of it.

My best friend, Susan, lived in Sawgrass, and passed away a couple of years ago.  Evelyn was a devoted friend of Susan's and talked with Susan every day.  After Susan's passing  Evelyn was bereft at the loss of her friend.  I smile knowing they are back together again gossiping and dispensing advice to anyone looking for some.  She loved my friend so much that I know the reunion is joyous.  
I'll see them again, of that I'm sure.

Evelyn will be missed. Her and Annie walked twice a day winter spring summer and fall. She always had a smile and kind word for all her neighbors. She was delight and inspiration for me. I was richer for knowing her.

So many wonderful memories of holidays with her, my folks, and the Iowa family. She always set a stylish table, and we were surrounded by love, laughter, and her incessantly sweet chirping little birdie. Evelyn was always upbeat and loved her family and friends. Oh, and her doggie, too!

This photo and write-up of Evelyn captures her true spirit and describes her perfectly.  It was such a privilege getting to know her. I only wish we could have had more time. She loved her family, her dog, the outdoors and breakfast pizza. I will always think of her when I see red roses and every year that my "twirlies" blow in the wind. I sure miss her already!
