Jackie was born on August 22, 1959, in Dallas, Texas, to John and Martha Baxter. In her youth, her family relocated to Ankeny, Iowa, where she was raised and later graduated from Ankeny High School; class of ‘78. Ankeny became her lifelong home, a community she cherished deeply.
Following her graduation, Jackie began a dedicated career with the State of Iowa. Over the course of 30+ years, she served faithfully, earning the respect of her colleagues through her strong work ethic and commitment. She retired in 2018, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication.
Jackie will be remembered for her kind heart, quiet strength, and unwavering love for her family and friends. She found joy in life’s simple moments and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, John W. Baxter Jr. and Martha R. Baxter; sister, Marjorie (Baxter) Vance; niece, Tina Dickerson; and her beloved cat, Hinata. She is survived by her son, Bradley “Brad” Baxter; her granddaughters, Liliana and Isabella Baxter; her cherished grand pup, Chloe, sisters; Kathy Baxter and Dee Dickerson; brother; John Baxter, nephew; Dylan Schoon, niece; Tracy (Jerzy) Boczkowski, great-nephews Trevor and Trey Boczkowski and several other extended family members who remember her dearly.
Visitation will be held at Ankeny Funeral Home, 1510 West First Street, Ankeny, IA 50023, on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at the same location from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
A graveside service will take place at Oralabor Cemetery, 515 SE Oralabor Road, Ankeny, IA 50021, on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
