John D. Sorenson, 74, of Des Moines passed away, Sunday, May 29, 2011 from complications of ALS. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 31 at Ankeny Funeral Home. Cremation will take place following visitation and a Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 1 at Elkhart Cemetery.
John graduated from Iowa State University and retired from Enron after a long engineering career.
He is survived by his wife Mary Sorenson of Des Moines, daughters, Angela (Randy) Evans of Johnston, Kim Sorenson of Mitchellville, Kristi (Paul) Leonard of San Antonio, TX; step daughter, Gail (Greg) Ditto of Des Moines, and a step-son William Perkins of Des Moines, six grandchildren, Austin, Nick (Danyelle), Alex, Gregory, Katie, Kristy, one great-grandchild, Hayden, sister Sandra Parmenter of Elkhart, and mother in law Virginia Cox of Des Moines.
