

Nancy Jane Landers was born October 26th, 1958, in Des Moines, Iowa. She was the daughter of Harry and Jane Larson. Nancy attended North High School in Des Moines, where she was a member of the ROTC, and played softball. Nancy attended Central College, in Pella. Nancy married the love of her life, Ron Landers, in 2003. They spend 11 ½ years happily married in Ankeny. She worked at Blue Cross/Blue Shield before finding a position at Delta Dental. She enjoyed working part-time at Treasure House Gifts in Ankeny for a number of years. Nancy retired in 2012 to spent more time with her family.
Nancy was a wonderful, fun-loving, and spunky woman who was full of life and love. She touched many people in her short life. Nancy thoroughly enjoyed outdoor activities like camping and fishing, and her favorite place to visit was Colorado. She was an excellent cook, and making beautiful cakes was her specialty. She was particularly fond of online shopping, watching Soap Operas, and painting her nails. Every fall, Nancy looked forward to rooting for her beloved Iowa Hawkeye Football team. Above all, Nancy loved being with her family (including her (“fur-kids”), and cherished every moment spent with them.
Nancy passed away on April 3rd, 2015, at Methodist Medical Center with her family by her side. She is remembered by her husband, Ron; children, Andy Vandenberg and Sarah (Dennis) Miller; step-children/step-grandchildren, Mike (Heidi) Landers (Emma and Ian), Tracy (Brandt) Miller (Addison, Matthew, and Bailey), and Steven Landers (Brooklyn); brothers, Phil and Steve Larson. She is preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Mike.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Ankeny Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed toward the family, and will be donated to Furry Friends Refuge and the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in Nancy’s honor.
