Norman J. Rutz, 59, passed away at the University of Iowa Hospital on December 26, 2022. A memorial service will be held at the Ankeny Funeral Home at 1 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2023, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
Norm was born October 21, 1963, to Norman H. and Suzanne Rutz in Waterloo, and grew up in Ames. He graduated from Ames High School and it was there that he met his high school sweetheart, Karen. Norm attained his bachelor's degree in finance from Iowa State University and while in college, he and Karen were married and to this union, two daughters were born.
Norm loved playing golf and attending Iowa Hawkeye games with his family. He loved all sports and knew much about sports trivia. He loved nothing more than spending time with his daughters, and their dogs.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Karen; daughters, Erica Rutz (Andrew Ermel) of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Lindsey (Chris) Struyk of Eagle Grove, Iowa; sister, Lisa Riggs of Shawnee, Kansas; and father, Norman H. Rutz of Overland Park, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Suzanne.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, American Cancer Society- Hope Lodge in Iowa City, or the University of Iowa Renal and Kidney Department.
