Richard Howard Compton, age 68, died at home in Ankeny, IA on Saturday, April 24, 2010. He was born December 19, 1941, son of Howard and Alva Compton. In addition to his mother, Dick is survived by three children, Teri Compton Fraley (Bart) of Ann Arbor, Michael Compton of Saline, and Christopher Compton (Kim) of Ankeny, IA. Dick is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Barkley of Lansing and Mary Frederick (Grady) of North Carolina and one brother, Andrew Compton Los Angeles; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He graduated from St. Thomas High School and entered the U.S. Navy serving during the Cuban Crisis. Dick spent his life in law enforcement and bank security. A memorial service will be at held 10 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Ann Arbor. Cremation has taken place. Immediately following will be a graveside military service at Washtenong Cemetery.
