Ricky Joseph Fontana

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Ankeny.

On February 5, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa Ricky Joseph Fontana was born to Richard and Mary (Lenihan) Fontana. He grew up in Ankeny and received his education from Ankeny High School graduating in the class of 1975.

Ricky made a career as a concrete truck driver for V-O Concrete which later became A1 Ready Mix. After leaving A1 concrete due to a leg injury Ricky went to work for Broadlawns Hospital and worked on the custodial staff.

Ricky was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and was considered a WWII and military history buff. He also loved listening to all types of Rock N’ Roll music while assembling model airplanes and army tanks.

Survivors include his sons, Chris Fontana of Des Moines and Jon (Jill) Fontana of Ankeny; grandchildren, Bradley, Juliana, Anthony, Hayden, and Sophia Fontana; mother, Mary Fontana; and brothers, Randy Fontana and Jim Fontana. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Fontana.
