Rowene Caroline Brockman Kracht passed away on January 26, 2019, at the age of 96 at Mill Pond in Ankeny, Iowa. Visitation will be 9 to 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2019, with funeral services following at 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church (1100 SE Sharon Drive in Ankeny). Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m., at Westside Cemetery in Westside, Iowa.
Rowene was born November 26, 1922, on a farm near Arcadia, to Fred Brockman and Amanda Aschinger Brockman. She was the middle child of three children: Raymond and Delone. She was married on November 30, 1944, to Robert Kracht and they enjoyed 67 wonderful years of marriage. They farmed northwest of Westside, Iowa for 20 years. They moved to Verona, Wisconsin in 1966 where Robert worked for Sentry Insurance and they also owned and operated the Verona Motel for five years before returning to Iowa, settling in Ankeny. After retirement, they moved to Carroll, Iowa and later returned to Ankeny in 2001.
Rowene is survived by her children Zoy Beck (Stanley) of Mooresville, IN; Steven (Lynn) of Winter Springs, FL; Linn (Colleen) of Battle Creek, MI; Chanda Hensen (Paul) of Fort Myers, FL; Cory of Maxwell, IA; Hutch (Julie) of Grinnell, IA; and 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Rowene was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her husband Robert.
Rowene had a strong faith as a lifetime Lutheran and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ankeny, IA. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, playing cards, and most importantly, spending time with family and friends. She was also known at Mill Pond for her Wii Bowling skills.
