Born on April 12, 1921, in Union City, Tennessee, Arnetta was the ninth of ten children born to Occo and Lou Ella McFall. Growing up in a lively and loving household, she developed her signature sense of humor early on, often performing stand-up-style shows with her brothers to entertain the family. Her joyful spirit and infectious laughter became her lifelong trademarks.
A devoted caregiver, Arnetta pursued a career in nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse well into her 70s and 80s, offering compassionate in-home care to countless individuals. Her nurturing nature and commitment to others were a cornerstone of her life.
Arnetta was also a passionate traveler and especially cherished her trips to Hawaii, proudly visiting every island. She spent many years in California raising her family before eventually relocating to Ann Arbor to be closer to her daughter in her later years.
Her faith was unwavering. Arnetta was a dedicated member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Ann Arbor, where she served faithfully as an usher. She was also a proud member of the Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World (IBPOEW).
Arnetta’s zest for life included a love of dancing and an enduring hope each time she played the lottery. But above all, her greatest joy came from being with her family, whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally.
She is survived by her daughter Alexis (Donald) Allen, Jeanette Williams, Darryl (Monique) Williams, Doris (Russell) Calvert, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved siblings: Gertrude Lacy, Ruth Strather, Martha Ann Stalling, Catherine Gray, Willie McFall, Henry McFall, Knox McFall, Occo McFall, and James McFall.
A Celebration of Arnetta’s extraordinary life will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, located at 900 John A. Woods Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48105. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by her Homegoing Service at 11:00 a.m.
Her legacy of love, laughter, service, and faith will live on in all who knew and cherished her.
