She was born on November 6, 1941 in Ann Arbor to Fred and Joyce Weber. She graduated from Ann Arbor High School in 1959 and earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University in 1964. She taught high school business classes for several years before marrying Fred Lauzon and raising their son Mark in Dexter, Michigan. She was the type of mom that everyone knew and loved, always involved in Mark’s school activities and sports. In 2000, she moved from Dexter to Laurel Gardens where she quickly became involved in the community by serving on the beautification and finance committees.
Barb was an accomplished needlepoint artist and stitched pillows, ornaments, and pictures. She was an avid reader who found joy in the perfect book. She liked going out to dinner with friends, taking long walks, and enjoying sunny days. She traveled to places like the Galapagos Islands, Russia, England, Germany, and Greenland. She was a long-time volunteer at the Ann Arbor Thrift Shop and past member of the Ann Arbor City Club. She was most proud of her grandchildren, Emily and Josh, and was a frequent spectator (and cheerleader) at all their cross country and track meets. She was so loved by her family and friends. She will be missed.
Barb is survived by her son Mark (Amy) Lauzon, grandchildren Emily and Josh, sisters Shirley (Jerry) Fisher and Judy (John) Jambor, along with nieces and nephews Mike, Tracy, Sherry and Craig and their families. A private graveside ceremony will take place at Bethlehem Cemetery in Ann Arbor.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Ann Arbor Thrift Shop in her honor.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to Balfour Senior Living, Careline Hospice and Reverend Melissa Anne Rogers for their care and compassion.
