

Ernst, Carl "Bud" 7/4/1924 - 2/6/2015 Ann Arbor, Michigan Ernst, Carl Samuel "Bud" of Ann Arbor, Michigan died February 6, 2015 at 90 years of age. He was born on July 4, 1924 in Ann Arbor, MI the son of Carl R. and Lydia Ernst. Carl was a graduate of Ann Arbor High where he was a state champion swimmer. Before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1943 he swam for the University of Michigan. While serving in the Navy he was an Electricians Mate First Class. He married Florence Mallory on February 11, 1949, sadly she preceded him in death in 2008; together they will celebrate their 65 wedding anniversary in Heaven on the day his mortal remains are laid to rest. Carl was a Master Electrician and owner of Ernst Electric for many years, retiring 1984. He was also a Lifetime member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #252. Carl was an avid follower of U of M Basketball traveling to all of the away games with special friends Pat Hatch and Dottie Day; he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and bowling with his special love of participating in the Strokes for Strokes Annual Golf Outings since their beginning. Carl was very involved with the Pittsfield Senior Center enjoying his many friends and their trips to the casino. Two years ago he moved to Brookhaven Manor and enjoyed the many activities and friends he met there. He was also a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church of Ann Arbor. At the time of his death Carl was surrounded by the love and support of his family. He is survived by his children; Edward (Peggy), Sandra (Mark) Grambau, Susan(Mike) Rose, and Stacey (Alan Pulliam) Nimke, grandchildren; Michael, Matthew (Nicole), Joel (Jennifer), Melissa, Daniel (Nicole), Dana (Brian), Emily (Mark), Ben, Megan, and Will, great grandchildren; Joey, Robbie, Sarah, Katie, Natalie, Caleb, Kaylee, Miller, Harper, Madden, Alexis, Austin, Morgan, McKenna, Kinley and a great grandchild on the way, and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters; Evelyn Ticknor and Shirley Craig. A funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends at Muehlig Funeral Chapel on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Memorial donations may be offered to Zion Lutheran Church or Arbor Hospice.
