Carolyn Sue Stone

Carolyn Sue Stone, age 71, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012, at home surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Our beloved wife, mom, grandma, sister and friend was born to Roy and Florence (Link) Walter on June 28, 1940, in Defiance, OH. Carolyn married her high school sweetheart, Bob Stone, on June 24, 1961, in Defiance, OH. They have three children: Todd (Laurie) Stone of South Lyon, MI, Bruce (Jill) Stone of Redford Twp., MI and Susan (Diana) Stone of Eaton Rapids, MI. They also have four grandchildren: Andrew, Adam, Kailey and Luisa. In addition to her husband, children and grandchildren, Carolyn is survived by her brother, Michael Walter, of Defiance, OH, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in law, her nieces and nephews, and many special family members and friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Robert and Ruth Stone, and her brother, Jeffrey Walter, all of Defiance, OH. Bob and Carolyn lived in the Brighton area for more than thirty years. They previously lived in Defiance, OH, Ann Arbor, MI and Clarinda, IA. Carolyn enjoyed her career in banking. She was a Deacon and volunteer at the First Presbyterian Church of Brighton. Most important to Carolyn was spending time with her family, especially on our Sunday afternoon gatherings, and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s school and athletic events. She loved decorating at Christmas and celebrating all birthdays. Shopping was a favorite past time. Carolyn had a big heart and was loved by many. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 20th and Thursday, June 21st from 4-8 p.m. at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel, Ann Arbor. Funeral services will be Friday, June 22, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Brighton, with Pastor Dan Michalek officiating, with visitation at the Church beginning at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Presbyterian Church of Brighton or another organization of choice.
