Charles Bernhart Derr

Chaz (Charlie to his Mom) died suddenly in his sleep at his home in Southgate, Michigan. He was 47. He was the father of Grayson Elizabeth (aged 5), twin brother of Will (Deborah), and beloved son of Michele. He was preceded in death by his father, Ellwood Derr. Chaz was a devoted father; he once said that it had long been his ambition to be someone’s father, and Grayson was the light of his life. He loved his family and will be sorely missed by all the Derrs, and by many friends and colleagues. Chaz grew up in Ann Arbor and loved sports. He spent many happy hours on his sofa watching games, especially UM football games. He inherited his father’s sense of humor and was a great raconteur. Chaz completed his BS Degree at Eastern Michigan University in 2013. He had worked for Blue Cab for many years. In addition to his daughter, mother, brother and sister-in-law, Chaz is survived by his nephews, Jackson and Jonathan and by his former wife Robin. A memorial service will be held at The First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor on Saturday, April 30 2016 at 11:00 AM. A private interment ceremony will take place immediately after the memorial service.
