Dorothy Jean Brooks

Our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully in her home in Ann Arbor on Thursday, November 24th, at the age of 89. The daughter of the late Roy and Mary McCleery, she was born September 8, 1933 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for 80 years. She retired after many years of service within the Ann Arbor Public School system. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids, and spent many hours at their multiple sporting events and activities. Dorothy was an avid animal lover, especially dogs, birds and the squirrels that frequented her deck for their daily feeding of a strict 9 peanut diet. Other interests included craft shows, traveling, Michigan basketball and a thirst for learning.

Cherishing her memory are her four children, Laurie J. (Rick) Moore, Cindy A. (Paul) Torango, Julie M. (Lary) Hoopes, and Robert M. (Nora) Brooks; her grandchildren Andrew (Kristen) Moore, Daniel Moore, Chris (Angela) Torango, Tracy (Kim) Hunn, Bob Torango, Tyler Brooks, Matthew Brooks, Alexis Brooks, and Justin (Traci) Hoopes; great grandchildren Kayla, James, Samantha, and Arya. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Susan Brooks, two sisters, Gail Fiegel and Nancy Philp, and brother Roy McCleery Jr.

Visitation will be held at Muehlig Funeral Chapel from 4:00 – 7:00 on Saturday, November 26th.

Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 28th. Luncheon will follow at St. Paul.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran and Huron Valley Humane Society.
