

Helen Pappas passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on April 15, 2020. She was born in Greece on February 15, 1922. She received her nursing degree along with Red Cross certification and worked in a private clinic in Edessa Greece before coming to the USA in 1952. She started working at St Joe Mercy Hospital in the newborn nursery, which she loved so much. Besides being a very hard worker, her hobbies were gardening and baking her amazing Greek delights and especially sharing them with as many people as she could. She was always telling her great stories and they were endless and so fun. Helen had a great passion for work, people and life in general. She always was there to lend a helping hand and lead by example. Through very hard work and against many odds, she was a success in life in many ways, from business to love of her family. She was truly a force of nature. She is survived by her daughter Kathy Pappas, granddaughter Elena Mintzias, grandson Zack Mintzias along with his wife Reiko and great grand children Andrew, Angela and Alexander. Her sister Vasiliki Kotzabassi, niece Minna and nephew Stavos. She was preceded in death by her husband Peter Pappas and her grandson Marc Mintzias. A heart felt thanks to St Joesph hospice, which provided care in the final days. Memorial contributions can be made to SmileTrain her name. A private family burial will take place at Forest Hill cemetery.
