

Lloyd, Herbert Nelson, Jr., age 82, of Ann Arbor, Michigan (formerly of Detroit, MI) passed away peacefully on March 15, 2010. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice Jensen Lloyd, his brother Richard S. Lloyd, and sisters, Mary Jane Walbridge and Martha A. Lloyd. He is survived by sisters Nancy E. Sivas (Ed) of Rancho Palos Verde, CA, Betty J. Lloyd of Detroit, MI, his niece Mary Ellen Lloyd of Ann Arbor, MI and many other nieces, nephews and their families, as well as his best friend and long time companion, Rhoda Beyer, of Ann Arbor, MI. Herbert worked at Dunn & Bradstreet in Detroit for most of life. He was a member of Masonic, Zion Lodge #1 of Detroit and Golden Rule Lodge #159 of Ann Arbor, York Rite, Scottish Rite, the Shriner’s and the Eastern Star. Herbert was also a veteran of WWII and though he did not see active duty, was proficient as a Morse-code operator. He resided in Ann Arbor for the past 16 years, most of them at Lurie Terrace, a community for seniors where he had many good friends. All those who knew “Big Herb”, as his friends called him, will remember him most for his corny jokes, riddles, and puns. He will be missed by many.
