Jackie was born in Chicago, Illinois to Kenneth and Dorothy Snyder of DeKalb, Illinois. She attended DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. There, she made many life time friends. Upon graduation, she spent the summer at her Family’s summer home, where she had gone every summer since her birth. When fall came, she went to Chicago, and began working as a secretary at the Northern Trust Company. The first week there, she met her future husband, David. The next summer, David was called into the military service, and upon his release from active duty, they were married in a Christmas wedding in 1958. They returned to Ann Arbor, where David earned an MBA in business from the University of Michigan, and Jackie began working as a secretary for the National Bank and Trust Company. Upon his graduation, David began consulting assignments for the General Electric Company, which required that they move every 4 months. David missed the banking world, so in 1961 they returned to Ann Arbor, and he began a 38 year career with National Bank and Trust (now Chase Bank).
Jackie and David had two children – John and Cathie. Both were born in Chicago-delivered by the same doctor that delivered Jackie in 1935. Jackie was for more than 50 years, a member of Chapter CM of the P.E.O Sisterhood, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ann Arbor, a member of the Ann Arbor Farm and Garden Club, the Ann Arbor Women’s City Club, and the Ann Arbor Golf and Outing Club. She was Co-President of the Stone School P.T.A. and a Girl Scout troop leader. She was a beautiful person, with a contagious smile. She devoted her life to her family, and when David retired her crafts.
She is survived by her husband, David; her son, John; her daughter, Cathie; her granddaughters, Lauren and Catie; and grandson, Marc; and great grandchildren, Grant, Audrey, and Brantley; and brother, Robert (Donna).
She suffered with painful osteoarthritis, without complaint for many of her past years. She died however; with a beautiful smile-to tell all of us who will miss her that at last she was at peace. She was buried in Forest Hill Cemetery in a private family service. Arrangements entrusted to Muehlig Funeral Chapel.
