

Jeanne Marie (Noel) Tata of Ypsilanti, Michigan, formerly of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at age 95. She was born on October 9, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, the youngest of four children. Jeanne attended Cooley High School and worked for a time at Hudson’s Department Store in the fine jewelry department. She married Robert Tata on December 27, 1947. They were married for nearly 69 years until his death in 2016.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her mother, Alvina Jean, father Arthur Noel, sisters Irene Jacaruso, Alice McLaughlin and brother George Noel. She is survived by her children: Julie Young (Patrick), Nicholas Tata (Kuniko Sasahara), Mary Tata (Thomas Lynch), Paul Tata (Martha Bornak), Martin Tata (Kathleen Fitzgerald), Peter Tata (Joanne) and John Tata (Ann Kresowski), by her grandchildren: John Young (Jennifer), George Tata (Kasumi Sasahara), Marie Tata (Chang Yup Seo), Jim Tata (Aryanna) and Paul Tata and by her great grandchildren: Emma, Allen, Karin, Ellen, Lola, Milo and Jin, and many nieces and nephews.
Jeanne loved books, gardening and French Impressionist painting. She was an accomplished cook, knitter and an active volunteer in her community. She inspired her children and grandchildren to pursue their interests and follow their dreams. Jeanne was a kind and caring mother, loved by all. She will be greatly missed.
Private services for the family were held at Muehlig Funeral Chapel in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Friday, February 9, 2024.
