Lillian Doris Treml of Ann Arbor passed away peacefully Monday July 6, at University of Michigan hospital. She was 89 years old. Mrs. Treml was born Oct. 21, 1925 in Coal City, Indiana, the third of five children to Roscoe and Althea Wells, a modest and wonderful farming family in southwest Indiana. She married in 1952 and moved to Richmond, Ind., and then to Ann Arbor four years later. She was proud to be the devoted wife of William B. Treml for 61 years. She is survived by a daughter, Colleen (Matthew) Treml Daly of University Heights, Ohio; sons Dan Treml of Jerome, Mich. Pat (Celia) Treml of Ann Arbor, and Joe (RoseMarie) Treml of Sycamore, Ill.; five grandchildren – Kaitlin, Peter, Keriann, Nicholas, and Colan - a sister, Ruth Killian of Anderson, Ind., six nieces and four nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her loving folks, sisters, Velda Shonk and Edith Karns, brother Glenn Wells, all of Indiana, aunts, uncles, nephews, three brothers-in-law, and a grandson, Nolan Treml. Mrs. Treml was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Ann Arbor for more than 50 years. Doris Treml was unassuming, compassionate, and selflessly dedicated to her family. She loved gardening and yard work, making dinner, tradition, holidays and birthdays, helping with projects around anyone’s home, and returning to her Indiana countryside. She possessed a remarkable memory and could recall small and large activities and events, places and dates with equal accuracy. She appreciated road trips and vacations, visiting with family and friends, the morning newspaper, the Detroit Tigers, and a good cup of coffee, hot or cold. She always put her steadfast faith and cherished family members first. She enjoyed taking care of and helping others whenever she could. She instilled her simple values of virtuous living, hard work, love of life, and hope for the future in all. Visitation will be held Wednesday July 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Muehlig Funeral Chapel in Ann Arbor. A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday July 9 at St. Thomas the Apostol Catholic Church.
