

DYER, Mary Margaret 9/1/1920 - 5/24/2016 Mary passed away peacefully surrounded by members of her family on May 24th. Mary Margaret was born on September 1st, 1920 in Ann Arbor, MI, the daughter of Leo and Catherine Ritz and the eldest of three children; brother Edward of Whitmore Lake, MI and James (deceased). She was baptized at St. Thomas the Apostle, where she attended school for twelve years. Mary graduated from Michigan State Normal College with a degree in Special Education in 1942 and later obtained her Masters Degree at Eastern Michigan University. On December 28, 1943 she married Thomas B. (Barney) Dyer. Barney preceded her in death on September 3rd, 2001. Mary's life centered on her family, which she deeply loved. She cherished her role as matriarch and family gatherings were the times she was the happiest. During her last years, her fortitude and perseverance were an inspiration to all who knew her. Mary took great pride in her eight children: Thomas B. (Paige), Dennis (Mary), Edward (Gia), James (Barbara), Diane Corcoran (Matt Baldus), Daniel (Katie), Mary Kay Otte (Bruce), and Kathleen. She is also survived by twenty two grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Tom Corcoran in 1998 and great-grandson Joseph Thomas Benson. How blessed we all were to be a part of her life. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary's name may be directed to Conway Lakes Health and Rehabilitation Center, 5201 Curry Ford Road, Orlando, FL 32812. The family will be present at Muehlig Funeral Chapel to receive friends on Thursday, June 2, from 5-8 p.m. with the holy rosary prayed at 7:30 p.m. On Friday Morning, June 3 Mary will be taken to St. Thomas the Apostle Church of Ann Arbor where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at St. Thomas Cemetery.
