Patricia (Pat) Johnson, 86, followed her husband’s (Donovan) footprints in the sand by going home to the lord on July 14, 2014. She was the daughter of Walter and Lila Wenger, born at home on West Liberty Street in Ann Arbor, delivered by her father during a snow storm.
Her greatest accomplishment was raising her four children Don, Tom, Bill and Jackie. They spent summers at the cottage on Whitmore Lake enjoying skiing, fishing, and canoeing. She was always at their baseball, football, and wrestling meets. Watching her son’s build custom homes from the ground up simply amazed her. She was beyond proud of them. She admired the way her daughter’s love and care for others made an impact on the lives she touched. She always enjoyed the annual Eberwhite Childcare talent shows. She had such an admiration and love for her children.
She adored Ann Arbor, skating at West Park, and The Orpheum Theatre. She loved working as a candy striper at the U of M hospital, teaching Sunday school, and sitting front row at a Frank Sinatra’s Concert. She was an avid gardener and loved creating her fairy garden throughout her yard, where she would spend hours bird watching.
She was married to Donovan for 54 years. They spent 28 years of retirement in Clearwater, Florida. They enjoyed the local food, shelling with their family, and walking Pier 60 at sunset. Family and friends enjoyed their display of Dicken Village houses and trains during their favorite season, Christmas. They traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe with their daughter(Jackie) and son-in-law(Joe). They were able to experience standing on the top floor of the Eiffel tower in France, the Medicine Wheel in Wyoming, Pebble Beach in California, Blue Oceans in the Virgin Islands, and whale watching between Bangor, Maine and Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Patricia was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth(Webb) and Doris(Cebulski). She is survived by her children Donavan(Diane Johnson), Jackie(Joe Jarrell), Thomas(Nora O’Brien) and William(Kimberly Johnson); sisters Alice(Lloyd) and Karoline(Hense); 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and her beloved dog Lulu.
A celebration of her life will be held at the home of Donovan and Diane Johnson September 6, 2014. From 2-6.
"Some people's lives can truly make a difference, however long or short their lives on earth. They give the gifts of kindness and of caring. They sow the seeds of friendship and self-worth. Some people's lives are beautiful examples of putting others first, and when they're gone, the lives of those they've touched are so much richer, and the love they shared lives on and on."
