Phyllis Louise Brownlee

Phyllis Ernst Wilkinson Brownlee age 79 of Ann Arbor, Michigan passed away at her home on May 26, 2014. She was born February 26, 1935 at a home on Main Street in Saline, Michigan to Ambrose & Catherine (Prosser) Ernst. She grew up on the Ernst Farm at the corner of Arkona and Platt Roads in Milan.

She was a cheerleader and homecoming queen at Milan high in 1953. She was a camp counselor at the Wampler's Lake Girl Scout Camp in 1952. She attending Eastern Michigan University where she was a cheerleader and graduated with a teaching degree in 1961.

She married Warren Wilkinson in 1957 and had three children, Calvin 1957, Bradley 1959, and Jennifer, 1960.

The Family moved to Ann Arbor in 1965 and Phyllis took a job as a Phys Ed Teacher at Willow Run High School. She was the cheerleader and synchronized swimming coach, and taught Phys Ed and Health. She earned her Master's degree at the University of Michigan in 1975, then was the Willow Run Assistant Principal, and then became the Willow Run High School Principal in 1980.

She married R. Wiley Brownlee in 1977. They took their Cessna 172 around the country on their honeymoon and traveled extensively until Wiley's Death in 2004.

She retired from Willow Run in 1996. She spent her remaining years as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Loving mother of Brad (Arlene) Wilkinson, Calvin (Barbara) Wilkinson and Jennifer (Kevin) Sharp. Step-mother of Dan Truth and Ken Brownlee. Dear grandmother of Sarah Truth, Chris Sharp, Jacob & Erin Wilkinson, Bethany Sheldon, Nick & Andy Wilkinson & Danielle Briggs, Brad & John Royalty. Sister of Ralph (Pat) Ernst, Cathy (Bill) Rogers and the late Dorothy Ernst Texter.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Muehlig Funeral Chapel 403 S. 4th Avenue Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association alz.org. Arrangements under the direction of Muehlig Funeral Chapel, Ann Arbor, MI.
