Hello Robert Jr and family, I am your first cousin on your mother’s side. Her brother Amos Goodlow was my Daf and her older brother. I had been keeping in touch with Uncle Robert and I am so sorry that I didn’t know he had passed. I would have flown in from Nashville for his services. I am so sorry, death is so hard and I truly know your pain after losing my husband two years ago. Your parents came to our home many times for our anniversary. I am broken and crushed over discovering this when I didn’t get an answer on the phone. I f you get this message, please give me a call at 615-630/1407. I called my two sisters and let them know. They are so hurt. With love, your cousin Janie Goodlow Ganaway

Today I laid to rest my "Little Buddy" Deacon Robert Kirkland. He was usually with me when I closed a casket. Today I closed the casket alone. Even in his retirement he either drove the hearse or rode shotgun. Today was our last ride together. Deacon and I shared a lot of hamburgers and other meals, a lot of laughs and a whole lot of prayers! He took me to my very first Revival at Bethel AME and I will never forget that night. He also taught me and a lot of other folks about the Lord! He told me ounce "ya can't just read the word, ya have to live the word as well. Today was the hardest time while closing a casket. We may all be sad for a little while, but there is light after darkness and all who knew you, know that you are in the loving arms of God. Be at peace "little Buddy", be at peace!

Wow!!! Deek!!! We are sure gonna miss your Presence at SBCAA!!! I've known you ALL of my life. I remember back in the day when we had them "good ole" Prayer Meetings and the Deacons would pray and you would start out your prayers with Psalms 1. As a child I remember being AMAZED at your ability to recite the Word before your prayers!! So MANY are Graduating and being PROMOTED!! Yes, September 25th was "Promotion Day!!" and you have gone from Labor to Reward!!! Congratulations Deacon!!! GLORY to GOD!! I'll miss you saying, " Reverend?" and then I'd say, " Deacon?" and then we would laugh and shake hands. lol... Rest Well "Quiet Storm"...🙏🏾🙏🏾 Praying God's COMFORT to Robert Jr., Vivian and the Kids. Love you ALL❤

For 30 years your name has been Papa not Robert to me but “Papa”. Stine coined the name the minute my son was born. I never knew a Papa before but quickly learned I was blessed with quiet strength and support I barely deserved. My gratitude is beyond measure. Sojourn well dear Papa..Sojourn well…
