

Carol Anne (Slater) Manganaro Carol Anne (Slater) Manganaro, 86, died peacefully on September 6, 2016, of natural causes in Annapolis, Maryland. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, on November 20, 1929. She was married to RADM Francis (Frank) F. Manganaro, USN (Ret), ’48A, for 58 years. He predeceased her in 2006. Carol was a multifaceted woman. She was a faithful and loving wife, and mother of six children. With her husband she lived around the country at many duty stations and made a wonderful home at each for her family. She was an adventurous lady and loved traveling with her husband, family, and friends all her life, to the four corners of the world, taking in all of what life had to offer. She made wonderful, life-long friendships everywhere she went. She had many talents and was an especially accomplished seamstress. She loved to sing and found a choral group wherever she lived. When Frank retired from the Navy, they lived in Convent Station, NJ, and later Sun City, FL. Eventually they returned to Annapolis, MD, where it all began back in 1947. She is survived by two sons, CAPT William F. Manganaro USNR (Ret) ’73, Issaquah, WA, and John T. Manganaro ’82, Carlock, IL; three daughters, Sue M. DeGeare (Truett), Springfield, VA, Linda A. Rodrock (Jim ’81) Annapolis, MD, and Mary K. Adkins (Jim ’86) Bellevue, WA. Carol and Frank’s son, Rip, predeceased them in 1960. Twelve grandchildren, one great grandson, and her brother, CAPT Robert Slater USN (Ret) ’47, of Charleston, SC, also survive her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday September 14, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the U.S. Naval Academy Main Chapel in Annapolis, MD followed by interment at the USNA Cemetery.
