

Joseph Diamond -- loving husband, father and grandfather died peacefully at home in Annapolis on July 29, 2015. Born in Monangah, WV in 1930 to Ralph and Mary Diamond, Joe is survived by Marie, his wife of 59 years; three children, Jo Marie, Ralph and Thomas; a brother, Philip and a sister, Antoinette; a grandson, Nathaniel; an uncle, Chester; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Bernadine and his brothers James and Albert Joe served as a Sergeant in the US Army in the Korean War. Joe earned degrees from Fairmont State and Bowie State. Joe taught school at both Arundel High School and Annapolis Junior High, specializing in Industrial Arts, before serving in the position of Pupil Personnel Worker at Anne Arundel County Public Schools, retiring in 1991. Joe was a member and frequent volunteer of the Elks, the Boar’s Nest Hunting Club, the Fleet Reserve Club, and both the Maryland and Anne Arundel County Retired Teacher’s Associations. He was also a member of the American Legion. Joe was honored by being inducted into the Maryland Senior Citizen’s Hall of Fame. Friends may call at Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD 21401, on Sunday, August 2, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm or 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The memorial mass will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, August 3 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 109 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD 21401. Inurnment will be at a later date at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery. Contributions in Joe’s memory may be made to the Anne Arundel Retired School Personnel Association scholarship fund in lieu of flowers.
