Margaret Rosalie Kohler was born March 9, 1941 in Baltimore to the late Margaret (nee Smith) and Joseph A. Saffran, Sr.. Margaret passed away on March 27, 2021 at the age of 80 with her husband at her side.
Beloved wife of 29 years to Boyd Kohler, Jr.; devoted mother of Rick Airey, Tim Airey and his wife Peggy; devoted step-mother of Debbie Johansen and her husband Don, Peggy Kohler, Barbara Smith and her husband Rick; dear step-grandmother of Sarah, Amy and Justin Schaffer, Donald (Jr) and Kristen Johansen, Randy Smith; step-great-grandmother of eight; sister of the late Joseph A. Saffran, Jr.; his wife Mary Saffran and her family.
Margaret loved people. She had the gift to gab. She loved to talk to everyone: sharing stories of her past, her children, step-children and what was going on in the world. She could keep you on the phone for hours if you let her. She was fascinated by police shows, such as PD Live. She had such a sweet tooth for cake and her favorite drink, "Coke". One of her favorite hobbies was quilting. She had beautiful cards for so many. Her work life spanned from working at a bowling alley to banking, but her most rewarding job was working at "Good Sheppard", a home for troubled girls. She absolutely loved those girls.
Margaret lived in Baltimore for most of her life, she and Boyd eventually moved to Bel Air.
She loved going on car rides in the county. She would say “let’s go for a ride to that place where the big tree is on the side of the road”. She could easily make you smile and laugh when she did not mean too or was not trying. She will be missed by so many of her family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday May 1, 2021 at 11 am in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church 1100 Philadelphia Road Joppa, Maryland 21085.
