

Mary Jane Oliver, 85, a resident of Annapolis since 1969, died Sunday, September 7, 2014 at her residence following a lengthy illness. Born February 11, 1929 in Asheboro, NC, Mary earned a Bachelors Degree from the Women's College of the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. She was an elementary school teacher and a former relator with Church Circle Realty. She raised goats and was well known for the cheese she made from their milk. Mary was certified in Chinese cooking and was an Annapolis Tour Guide. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid walker and belonged to the Anne Arundel Community College walking club. Mary was an accomplished seamstress. She did knitting and rug hooking and was a member of several knitting and rug hooking groups. She loved her cats. Mary is survived by her husband, James C. Oliver, CAPT. USN. Ret., whom she married in 1951; three children, James Clayton Oliver, III of Annapolis, MD, Jane Ross Ditto "Cookie", of Pocatello, Idaho, and John Martin Oliver of Annapolis, MD; six grandchildren, Audra, Andrew and Emily Oliver, Michael and Daniel Ditto and Nina Oliver; and three great-grandchildren, Emerson Oliver and Jon and Ben Ditto.
