Mrs. Taylor is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Cleve Gary Taylor; her son Garry C. Taylor (Michelle); her son Todd B. Taylor (Lucinda); and her son Sean G. Taylor (Linda); her sister Nancy Boyd (Silas).
She was preceded in death by her infant son Gary Mark Taylor; and her parents Roopard and Mattie Lee Balenger.
A funeral service for Barbara will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2025 beginning at 1:00 PM at Golden Springs Baptist Church, 3 Robertson Rd, Anniston, AL 36207. Following the funeral service will be a committal service at Forestlawn Gardens, 730 Golden Springs Rd, Anniston, AL 36207.
Serving as pallbearers are Garry Taylor, Todd Taylor, Greg Taylor, Blake Gardner, Jeff Hicks, and David Howard. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Sean Taylor, John Moore and Christopher Taylor.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our cherished wife and beloved mom, Barbara Joan Taylor, on August 24, 2025. She was well known for her warm smile and Christ-like heart. She was a Godly woman, wife, mom, sister, and friend. Joan was full of empathy, commonly putting herself in others’ shoes, and compassionate to a fault. Joan was a devoted wife to Cleve Gary, a loving and caring mom to her boys. She was an example of a good Southern woman to all who knew her. As a charter member of Golden Springs Baptist Church, she loved her church family, was passionate about serving as a preschool teacher for 28 years, a member of the GSBC choir for more than 60 years, and rang in the handbell choir for 33 years. She had a beautiful voice and was also in the Alabama Singing Women’s Choir. If you were ever part of the youth group, you became part of her family. Her love for Jesus was evident in how she loved others.
