Dot Hall Reaves

Dot Hall Reaves, age 93, of Anniston, Alabama was born to Jesse R. and Minnie Tolleson Hall on February 6, 1929, Dot Hall Reaves passed away in the home of family members on October 28, 2022, in the early morning.

Mrs. Reaves is preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland Morrison Reaves; her parents, Jesse R. and Minnie Tolleson Hall; a stepmother, Willie Sieber Hall; brothers, Robert Edward (Bob) Hall and Avery N. Hall; a cousin, Isabella Allums McKinney, who was like a sister to her; as well as a niece, Elizabeth (Beth) Hall Gay.

Mrs. Reaves graduated from White Plains High School as valedictorian in 1947 and attended night classes at Jacksonville State University. She began working at the Butler Insurance and Real Estate Company at the age of 17. Feeling the call to full-time Christian service, Dot accepted a job as secretary of First Baptist Church of Anniston in March 1955. After 3-1/2 years she went to First Baptist Church of Gardendale and set up their first church office. This was a small, but growing country church. From Gardendale she moved to Montgomery and served as secretary to Ridgecrest Baptist Church. In the fall of 1962, Mrs. Reaves returned to First Baptist Church Anniston where she remained until retirement in 1992.

Dot leaves behind several nieces and nephews, along with grandnieces and grandnephews who loved her dearly. She was their fun and adoring Aunt who loved doing special things with them and encouraging them with her joyful spirit. Despite her many illnesses she was tough, positive, and loved to laugh. Aunt Dot will be missed by each of them, along with her many friends, including her caring neighbors.

The visitation at 10:00 a.m. and the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. will be held on Saturday, November 5th at the Gray Brown Funeral Home at 1329 Wilmer Avenue, Anniston. Immediately after the funeral, burial will be at Iron City Cemetery.
