James Snider

WEAVER – Funeral service for James W. Snider, Sr., age 84, will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Hollis Martin and Ken Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Jacksonville, AL. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m.. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Snider is survived by his wife, Ruth Jones Barker Snider of Weaver; daughter, Karen Ward of Anniston, Janet Barker Ginn of Wellington; sons, James William Snider, Jr. (Connie) of Jacksonville, Kenneth Snider of Weaver, Dewey Barker III (Donya), of Wellington; sisters, Mildred Daughtry of KY, Mary Frances Williamson (Jack) of Saks; grandchildren, Jamie Snider Noel (Mark), Jennifer Snider, Tyler Ward, Tony Ward, Kevin Ward, Todd Ginn, Scott Ginn, Neal Barker, Will Ginn, Amy Barker, Allie Barker; great-grandchildren, Presley Noel, Jayla Thornton, Ellie Ginn, Kaelyn Ward, Benjamin Ward, Noah Ward; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Todd Ginn, Scott Ginn, Will Ginn, Wes Ginn, Tyler Ward, Tony Ward, Kevin Ward and Neal Barker.

Mr. Snider was a native of Alabama and resident of Weaver. He was a WWII veteran with the U. S. Navy SEABEES. He pastured East Gadsden Congregational Holiness Church and Limbaugh Chapel in Talladega. He was a sunday school teacher at Duke Baptist Church. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah Snider, parents, Marvin and Audrey Snider and one brother.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Crossroads Baptist Church.
